Information for Parents

Information for Parents

If your child is considering joining Aberdeen Amateur Athletic Club, you need to be aware that you are making a family commitment to the Club and the Sport.

Parents / guardians need to:

• Support and encourage their children with their training, including arriving on time with the appropriate training clothing, physically and mentally ready to train;

• Support and encourage athletes with competitions, which often take place throughout Scotland;

• Support and help to develop the club by volunteering to help in some way.

Prior to a young person joining the Club, we normally hold Parent meetings, or arrange a one-to-one discussion with parents to explain and discuss the implications and expectations for members. Like most local sports clubs, Aberdeen Amateur Athletic Club is run by volunteers.

Please read the Club Welcome Pack more details about the Club.

The success of the Club therefore relies upon the goodwill of our club members, their families and our local communities. To help identify ways in which parents can help the Club, we ask all parents to complete a Volunteer Form and agree to help out officiating at a minimal number of Club events.

For further details, see the How to Get Involved section of the website.
